"also his balls are huge" tag!

also his balls are wrinkled.

Without this guy, we'd take away that "greatest generation" name SO FAST. Grandparents, you owe this guy.
^^^ Seriously.

Also, at 3:12 it sounds like, when he stutters "fought," that he says "This is what we fuckin' fought for..."

but he hates niggers.

PS is there a transcript of this somewhere, it's not all clear.
Good morning, Committee. My name is Phillip Spooner and I live at 5 Graham Street in Biddeford. I am 86 years old and a lifetime Republican and an active VFW chaplain. I still serve three hospitals and two nursing homes and I also serve Meals on Wheels for 28 years. My wife of 54 years, Jenny, died in 1997. Together we had four children, including the one gay son. All four of our boys were in the service. I was born on a potato farm north of Caribou and Perham, where I was raised to believe that all men are created equal and I've never forgotten that. I served in the U.S. Army, 1942-1945, in the First Army, as a medic and an ambulance driver. I worked with every outfit over there, including Patton's Third Army. I saw action in all five major battles in Europe, and including the Battle of the Bulge. My unit was awarded Presidential Citations for transporting more patients with fewer accidents than any other [inaudible] I was in the liberation of Paris. After the war I carried POW's back from Poland, Hungary, and Yugoslavia, and also hauled hundreds of injured Germans back to Germany.

I am here today because of a conversation I had last June when I was voting. A woman at my polling place asked me, "Do you believe in equal, equality for gay and lesbian people?" I was pretty surprised to be asked a question like that. It made no sense to me. Finally I asked her, "What do you think our boys fought for at Omaha Beach?" I haven't seen much, so much blood and guts, so much suffering, much sacrifice. For what? For freedom and equality. These are the values that give America a great nation, one worth dying for.

I give talks to eighth grade teachers about World War II, and I don't tell them about the horror. Maybe [inaudible] ovens of Buchenwald and Dachau. I've seen with my own eyes the consequences of caste systems and it make some people less than others, or second class. Never again. We must have equal rights for everyone. It's what this country was started for. It takes all kinds of people to make a world war. It does make no sense that some people who love each other can marry and others can't just because of who they are. This is what we fought for in World War II. That idea that we can be different and still be equal.

My wife and I did not raise four sons with the idea that three of them would have a certain set of rights, but our gay child would be left out. We raised them all to be hard-working, proud, and loyal Americans and they all did good. I think it's too bad [inaudible] want to get married, they should be able to. Everybody's supposed to be equal in equality in this country. Let gay people have the right to marry.

Thank you.

At the end, he says "I think if two adults," not "I think it's too bad."

You're a good man, Mister The Faghorn.
All I could think was if this man actually knew where he was and what he was saying; he's clearly just reading off a piece of paper.

Kinda made me sad to think that war vets could be used like that.
My grandfather is also a WWII vet of similar age who shares similar opinions.

Just because he's old, nervous and not a great public speaker doesn't mean that he's confused about where he is or that he's being used - especially considering he has a gay son, these are clearly his own views he's expressing.

Hay Belly
So Cube, he was lying when he said this: "I still serve three hospitals and two nursing homes and I also serve Meals on Wheels for 28 years." ???

"I don't condone what Dr. Zoidberg did but I'll fight tooth and nail for his freedom to do it. Or I would if I hadn't lost my teeth and nails on Mars and Saturn respectively. Yet I would gladly eat a flag myself, had I not used my intestine as a rope to hoist a flag made of my own skin, if it would protect the freedoms of the proud people who salute that flag. Freedom such as polygamy. I rest my case."
"That's right, I'm a polygamist!"

Shit, I meant "I request a Satanic funeral"

God-dang Futurama quotes man I tell you what

Another victim of the man-centric maleocracy.

Why isn't Michelle Malkin stalking this guy yet?
Rodents of Unusual Size
I think she's too busy trying to build internment camps for Muslims to deal with the likes of him.

This needs to be blared on loop at anyone who starts arguing for 'sanctity of marriage' until they shut the fuck up in shame
Luckily Hannity can just ignore this man and stay in his world where all vets fear gays as much as god. It's a simpler world, for simpler men.
Excuse me, there's something in my eye.

Also, this man is a Chaplain for VFW, delivers meals on wheels, was a medic that helped save the lives of injured soldiers on the allies side and the axis side, and fought in all 5 major battles.

This trumps anything the hatemongers can wheel out. This is the ultimate STFU and Sit The Fuck Down towards them.
Not really, because nothing -absolutely nothing- will ever be a STFU for the other side. They have no fucking ethics, morals, or soul. If God were to suddenly appear and say "Hey, cut this shit out" the next day you would see Fox and Blogosphere littered with "WHY IS GOD A COMMUNIST MUSLIM LIBERAL?? WHERE IS THE -REAL- GOD? WHO IS THIS IMPOSTOR?"

It never ends with them. Their minds are not rooted in any sort of reality.

This made me cry a little.
at the risk of sounding like a total fag, yeah, me too. seriously, though. i love you, poetv...

^^^^ "Gayperson"

There are lots of merely good men. Great men are a rarer sight.
All the great men are either gay or married, but not both.

five stars for FUCKING YES
Freeman Gordon
Can we just have a new civil war already?
GODDAMN YOU POE. Make me cry...
tears of joy.
This is a man to look up to.
We're having Ally Week at my school this week, and I may just have to play this for my students. A powerful testimony from what we've been told repeatedly is an unexpected quarter.
Five Stars. Anything less than the best is a felony.
Lies, lies, LIES!
This man went into every major battle in the European theatre with a stretcher instead of a rifle. And here he is, still fighting for our ideals. He makes me proud to be an American.
As a frontline medic in the deadliest conflict in human history, this guy treated grown men screaming for their mommies, men gushing blood out of stumps where their legs used to be, and men trying to stop their intestines from falling out of the shrapnel wounds in their stomachs.

This man is fucking hardcore and he's seen things that would make that whiny, crying little bed-wetter Glenn Beck pass out in front of his blackboard.

I would sincerely like to give this man a firm handshake and say two simple words: "Thank You".
There's no point to us going out and promoting our brand of democracy with force unless the products of that democracy include the abolition of tribe-think. Like treating gays as less than fully human.

"You can do what you want, just don't advertise it" is a horrifying thing to have to hear. We may as well still be in the jungle throwing twin babies into the woods to starve. And he's right to bring up caste systems; its the same damn thing.

A complete refusal to be not only moral but also objective in our view of the world. A status quo, backed (as always) by the supernatural. Regular people doing and thinking pure, pure evil every day, wishing a life of shame on their brothers and sisters for reasons they themselves don't understand.

We're supposed to be better than this.
I'm late to this party but I cannot give anything so grand anything less then 5.
