This cartoon is a permanent chunk of my brain. Like a third at least.
I particularly like the sexist secretary robot, and the racist space-arab thieves. Or the swamp mutant space hillbillies. Good times.

I haven't seen this, but I think I know who has: Joss Whedon. That ship looks a lot like Serenity.

Looks like a better time than "The Phantom Menace."

His... his name is Kaka? Like, poopy?
I thought it was Kha-Khan. There are a few L Ron Hubbard refs in this movie.
And a google for the director came up with this:

Admittedly pretty snazzy animation for 80s stuff.
I hate to admit it but... this movie... well... looks kind of interesting. But only from an intellectually historical perspective. Of course.

I remember this movie. The ships look 3d...or are they just rotoscoped?
Looks like 3D to me, too smooth even for rotoscoping. Damn good for 86.

Fuck yes! I've been trying to remember the name of this movie for years.
It's got some specific elements that are very similar to Star Wars, but overall is different. There's a Han Solo ripoff, and a sword made of sacred fire, and a huge spaceship (run by robots, who have their own "empire").
There's a scene in there where the Han character kidnaps a secretary bot and basically rapes her chips.
It's basically concentrated INSANITY. DUBBED, concentrated insanity.
He more or less prods her ass with a screwdriver until she falls in line.
Come to think of it this film could have done some damage to my head. But I'm not regretful, oh no.
I assumed he was forcibly altering her personality settings.

The nostalgia . . . it hurts . . . 3D spaceships! Cool!

LONG LONG AGO, THERE WAS A THING THAT HAPPENED WITH CHESS OR SOMETHING. NOW A BILLION YEARS LATER, I'M GOING TO KILL SOME HUMANS. TOPICAL!

Why the FUCK haven't I seen this movie? This really should have been part of my childhood.

"Well it's the eighties and we've got a little money left over to do one more project, what should we do this time?"
"Anyone? Just say whatever's on your mind. Anything at all. Nothing? No one has a single idea? Alright, but that means we have to rip off Star Wars again."
