The only thing I could never get over when cooked real Chinese food are the pigs feet. I was fine with the beef tongue, those gelatinous brown duck eggs, boiled fish heads and the rest. But, for some reason pig feet were just about the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten in the world.

I've never been confronted with any of that (aside from the preserved duck eggs, which I tried but didn't like). I couldn't bring myself to eat chicken feet when those were presented to me at dim sum in Hong Kong though.

Something like this happened to my Dad years ago. He and a friend went to a random restaurant in the heart of Chinatown in NYC, all Chinese customers and menus written completely in Chinese. They figured they were savvy enough New Yorkers and justed pointed at random items on the menu and ordered. They couldn't even decipher what they got (at least the meat parts) and even for their palates it was all inedible. They left with their plates full and the whole restaurant laughing at them.
