Grandma, I asked for a Game Boy.

What's this bullshit?

All the fun of shooting hairy midget demons while flying through a confetti tunnel in space.

Wait, that sounds awesome.

These videos were so awesome. I remember going through a few Action Max consoles though; they had a funny way of making the batteries leak acid.

I had an Action Max and this "game" -- not as a substitute for any other gaming system, but because my mom had no problem buying every gaming system that came out.

The black circle in the lower right hand side is where you placed a red spinning light on a suction cup that would activate with each "hit." The console itself had two LED counters to keep track of both lightguns score (the lightguns themselves were not removable from the console, so every game, including Sonic Fury, a Top Gun rip-off, involved you shooting pistols at airplanes.)

Also, this was my only console until the PSX. So, prior to that, whenever I heard other kids talking about playing video games I always assumed they were talking about the thing I had and wondered how they did all the cool stuff they were talking about with just guns (?!).

This led to my mom asking the guy at the game shop for Mortal Kombat on the Action Max. I guess it took a while for the feeling of being ridiculed to pass, explaining my own late re-entry into the console market.

I wonder if there's an Action Max Emulator?

Time to relive some disappointing boardwalk memories with the Time Traveler emulator!

Old_Zircon - 2011-06-10
I beat Time Traveler the one time I got to play it back in Middle School.

My friend described this game and the Action Max to me once.

"Okay, so it's like Atmosfear?"

"No, it was a consul that you put a VCR tape in and shot ghosts with."

"Okay, so it's like Atmosfear with a nerf gun and a target on the screen?"

"No, it was like a Duck Hunt gun."

"Damn right it's a Duck Hunt gun 'cause your story is Quackers!!!"

band... stupid brain worms.

Xenocide - 2011-06-10
Stupid Brain Worms is a real band name. I have no way of confirming this but it's pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Confusing and scary, just the way I like my video games!

As soon as I saw the title of this video I said "oh my god" out loud. I forgot all about this.

I was thinking four stars at best until the gameplay started.
