I really love Flo on Alice but everything about this opener, right down to the theme song says "short lived"

If they'd cast Vic Tayback as Flo, I would watch this.

The 70s and 80s saw plenty of attempts at spin-offs based on supporting characters from sitcoms; and most of the time they didn't work and were quickly cancelled and forgotten.
"Grady" and "The Sandford Arms" were spun off from Sandford and Son and were gone before anyone realized it.

Then there was the Ropers spun off from Three Company, because the constant bickering of a couple who made the Lockhorns look full of joy was comedy gold

"The Art of Being Nick" spun off from Family Ties, about Justine Bateman's character's dimwitted boyfriend.

Before Fraiser there was the Dan Hedeya starring "Tortellis" another failure that lasted less than one season and sported plenty of awkward cameos from the Cheers cast

"Checking In" a Jeffersons' spinoff (which itself had been a spinoff from All in the Family) where Florence the housekeeper got a job as the head housekeeper at a luxury hotel, barely lasted 4 episodes before Marla Gibbs returned to the Jeffersons.

and many many more, consigned to the heap.
