I saw this years ago. It's amazing.

Warning: this movie is really boring.
I was all set to make fun of you, poorwill, but you know, on reflection, the movie is indeed a little boring. Most Japanese cinema is.
It's also very cool, quite moody and evocative, with haunting visuals that'll stick with you for years. I haven't seen this movie since college, but I still have dreams about that mask and the susuki fields! In a way, watching the film is rather like plodding through a reed swamp. Beautiful, frightening, and tedious in equal measure.
If I was handling the remake, I'd add in some busty, stoned highschool kids for Onibaba to kill.

Ah fuck, looks like the subtitles (or the video in general?) are 2 seconds behind the sound.

This seems to have been inspired by Noh theater. Noh theater is my favorite kind of Japanese theater. I like Noh theater best of all.
Nuts to that, yo. KABUKI RULES!

Mike's a pretentious asshole. I'm glad he's stuck on that space-station. The one problem is, the robot's awesome Kabuki theatre is clearly wasted on the likes of him.
Pearls before swine, Tom and Crow! Pearls before swine.

With holding stars due to Nominal up voting his own submission in the hopper while complaining about video games
The movie does look good at a glance though
You care about hopper politics.
