John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-03

There are several weird things that I love about the Travelling Wilburys. I used to have this album, and believe it or not, Dylan gets most of the lead vocals! I also love that they included Jeff Lynne, who was so much less famous than the rest of them, (and who, as the leader of the Electric Light Orchestra, was NOT beloved of the critics, at least during their seventies heyday, and as i recall, that's putting it mildly) it made them seem friendlier, less like some kind of manufactured supergroup.

Never noticed the empty chair and photo in this video, to represent Orbison, who probably had already passed when they made the video.

This simple quote from Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan (taken from the Wibury's Website) seems heartfelt:

“It’s shocking, crushing news. I thought the world of Tom. He was great performer, full of the light, a friend, and I’ll never forget him.”

For me, this is my favorite version of Tom Petty. But I do also like a few of his albums.

I totally appreciate supergroups.

So they're down to Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan. Maybe they should replenish their ranks with Barry Gibb (the last Bee Gee), Carl Palmer (the last Emerson Lake or Palmer), and Paul McCartney and Pete Best. Then they can kick Pete out and bring in Ringo just for old times' sake.

I was just playing this on Rocksmith, right after Last Dance with Mary Jane. I really sucked hard today for some reason.
