Trump is correct about one thing. I really was hoping that his presidency would fail, because, if he was successful, he would be the model for future presidents.
But mission accomplished, dude! I do think it's all over. His little bump in the polls don't mean shit. In a global crisis, every leader is a getting a bump. What I've read is that, of all of them, Trump's is the smallest. Angela Merkel's surge is in the double digits.
You shouldn't make any life decisions based on my view of the future, But in my view of the future, Trump can't win. He can destroy us. He can destroy America's prestige in the world. He can destroy the world. But he can't win. He can only fail more spectacularly.
So I'm not seeing the need for huge body counts to gild the lily. Anytime Trump wants to stop screwing the pooch, he can. So far, he has left no pooch unscrewed.
When Glenn Beck says that he's willing to die for the economy, you can believe him. Without a Republican economic miracle, he'll be living in a world where he publicly debased himself over and over for a lie. Of course he'll die to prevent that from happening.
I understand him completely. Like me, he's in his sixties, and some day he's gonna die, probably for nothing. Like me, he probably thinks about dying for nothing. Dying for SOMETHING probably seems like a no-brainer.
Lately, I think that I may wind up dying to drive home the point, in front of God and Man, that Donald Trump is an incompetent liar, and reality exists. If I wasn't going to die anyway, might make me angry. But, things being what they are, the thought the thought of being sacrificed on the altar of intellectual integrity gives me a little buzz of joy, a little spark. It makes me slightly giddy.
Which is great, because not fearing death makes living a whole lot easier right now.
