I don't think it's fair to Mr. Bale because who knows what the hell was going on and how it lead up to this.....it's kind of like those reality tv shows where someone explodes but you don't see the little things that built up to lead to that point. I'm sure we're missing alot.
That said though, I wouldn't have taken him to be that kind of actor. Hell, fucking Batman is yelling at you for real about not taking your craft seriously. That's gotta do a number on you if you're an important dude whose job is done behind the camera. Bad enough people are only going to give you but so much recognition outside the industry, now you're being told you suck at your job. By Batman.

Christian Bale ate nothing but bread and apples for like a year to become The Machinist. He's a HARDCORE ACTOR. I did like the way that he thought to separate the guy from his job, though. The DP is a good person, and Bale admits this, but he's A TERRIBLE DP AND HIS LIGHTS NEED SOME SMASHIN'.
Still, this would've been five stars if he'd actually done it in the Batman voice.

In fairness, they're both being douches, although Bale moreso than the other guy. It's really unprofessional to be moving around on set unless there's a reason for it. Checking the lighting while there's filming going on is kind of a dick thing to do.
On the other hand, Bale is clearly out of hand and got a bit of the ol' ego if he thinks he's big enough to dictate terms of crew employment to the studio simply because he has issues with them. From what I hear, they were one phone call away from suing Bale with breach of contract if indeed he went through with his threat to not perform until the guy was fired.

Infamous That's where I'm kind of conflicted about it. I think Bale went a bit too far but if that was the second time the DP had done that, then he probably had it coming. Film costs money to shoot and the actor not being able to get into a role will have its own costs on screen. I'm not saying every actor is entitled to be a douche, but acting is much more difficult than alot of people think it is. If you've never done it, there's really nothing else to compare to. It's hard to do and it's extremely hard to do it right.
