This really should have been an animated film, it really should have.

Also I love how they mention how the games have so many characters to draw upon...of which they used almost none for the film. There's something absolutely fascinating watching people who know not one damn thing about the source material there making a film out of.

plus you have to love the Roxette video...what fucking game (let alone a mario bros game) ever looked like that ever in the history of 90s gaming? Brilliant, such absolute abandon for what a videogame is, just fucking amazing.

Bob Hoskins tearing shit up with jetpack boots and flamethrower is more awesome than 99.9% of Super Mario Bros movie concepts anyone could ever come up with.

From what I read, the biggest clusterfuck of this movie was the husband/wife dual director team delaying everything with stupid decisions and rubbing the cast the wrong way. Hoskins talks about how this was by far the worst movie experience he's ever been involved with because of them. He says that basically him and the other cast just did shots and got shitfaced on the set all the time. His hand was injured mid-production after a drunk Leguizamo flipped/crashed a vehicle in one scene.
