Err, um...sir, stick to arguments that my talking points will cover!

C'mon, one of these lines has to work

GravidWithHate
That fox news anchor is the definition of "Empty Suit"
Anaxagoras
Huh. I wonder if that anchor failed, or if he was successful in articulating his idiot audience's views, which were then refuted.
SolRo
I think fox news is getting confused with having to tow the ultra conservative christian line and the new tea party line of strictic constitutionilism. And the batshit crazy tea party line.

Spoonybard
The interviewer did his job brilliantly. He opens by emphasizing twice that the Day of Prayer has existed only since 1952, which is also Barker's opening point. His second volley is a half-hearted appeal that it doesn't FORCE anyone to pray, and then he goes right ahead to bring up the alleged Christian-ness of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and Christmas, none of which have roots in Christianity, which Barker predictably goes on to point out. And, since none of these glowing targets gave Barker the chance to specifically cite the Establishment Clause, he finishes by bringing it up FOR him. Every last one of the evangelical right's weakest political arguments lined up in an easily refuted form.

I have this theory that Fox is wrestling with religion for controlling the thoughts in the heads of American conservatives, and relish letting the Bible take a few lumps when convenient, even if they have to put on a show of Defending the Faith. Tea Parties are Rupert Murdoch's replacement for Church.

Foux du Fafa
"Oh crap, he's right. What do I do? Blink really fast!"
Cena_mark
There are 364 National Days of No Prayer. I don't see why anyone should get bent out of shape over 1 measly day of prayer.
glasseye
Lets make a "stab yourself in the face" day too. After all, there are 364 days a year where you are not required to stab yourself in the face!

Shanghai Tippytap
Damn right, sometimes you've gotta spill a little constitutional milk to save the american pie.

You're a sped.

Keefu
That's because you're a worthless mongoloid and a failure as a skeptical, rational, thinking human being.

hth :)

Ashenblade
Come on, he's not even trying anymore. I expect better from you, champ.

Since when has Cena being a shitty, tedious troll been a new thing?

Cena_mark
I was being sarcastic. Y'all know I'm agnostic.

Cena_mark
But really what's the big deal? This day doesn't take the rights away from any atheists. Its just a day has a bias towards theists. Atheists really have no reason to get butt-hurt over this.

MongoMcMichael
"I *was* being sarcastic, but now I'm not!"

grimcity
Cena, it's not a matter of rights, it's a matter of government sanction big-religion. Partially why the pilgrims got pissy at the Church of England.

Why do you hate America?

Cena_mark
Well you Libs want gun control even though its unconstitutional. I don't specifically want a day of prayer, I just don't think its really an issue. Atheists just need something to fuel their persecution complex.

charmlessman
Dude, gun control isn't unconstitutional. You still have a right to bear arms because that's all the 2nd amendment guarantees. It makes no provision or recommendation about the type of arms, nor the government's role in determining the type of arms you may own. In it's purest form you can legitimately interpret the 2nd Amendment to mean we can all have pocket knives, and that's it, no guns at all. But no one is seriously positing that. NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY!! We just want there to be some reasonable rules about what kind of guns you may purchase in the future. After all, if there were no rules, we'd all be allowed to carry missile launchers around if we wanted.

The treaty with Tripoli was a good pull. Ain't seen a guest ambush a host like this for a while.
Adham Nu'man
I'm pretty sure the Fox asshole was thinking to himself "Triple E treaty? What the fuck is the Triple E treaty?"

Frank Rizzo
oh fox news.
bac
That guy gave a great interview.
Caminante Nocturno
Look at how pissy the blurbs on the bottom of the screen are.

I was all like "they CANNOT be serious." Then I remembered what network they were.

Is it just me, or is the turnover rate on Fox News anchors getting considerably shorter and shorter?

Their dry, dessicated husks are cast aside at dawn, the dark demands of Glenn Beck's Dark Master must be appeased lest he be loosed to wreak havoc upon the innocent in their beds.
Robin Kestrel
I like this Fox news segment. It's not the anchor and two wingnuts ganging up on the liberal like the typical Fox setup. The anchor actually lets the guy finish his sentences. Kudos to Fox for being a little more balanced here.
Hay Belly
Balanced in what? Not education or ability to pose an argument. He didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. That last look he gave the heathen athiest was precious.

Robin Kestrel
He put forth the arguments his viewers would expect. Granted, not very well.

At least it wasn't the "who can shout the loudest" routine.
