The interviewer did his job brilliantly. He opens by emphasizing twice that the Day of Prayer has existed only since 1952, which is also Barker's opening point. His second volley is a half-hearted appeal that it doesn't FORCE anyone to pray, and then he goes right ahead to bring up the alleged Christian-ness of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and Christmas, none of which have roots in Christianity, which Barker predictably goes on to point out. And, since none of these glowing targets gave Barker the chance to specifically cite the Establishment Clause, he finishes by bringing it up FOR him. Every last one of the evangelical right's weakest political arguments lined up in an easily refuted form.

I have this theory that Fox is wrestling with religion for controlling the thoughts in the heads of American conservatives, and relish letting the Bible take a few lumps when convenient, even if they have to put on a show of Defending the Faith. Tea Parties are Rupert Murdoch's replacement for Church.

Dude, gun control isn't unconstitutional. You still have a right to bear arms because that's all the 2nd amendment guarantees. It makes no provision or recommendation about the type of arms, nor the government's role in determining the type of arms you may own. In it's purest form you can legitimately interpret the 2nd Amendment to mean we can all have pocket knives, and that's it, no guns at all. But no one is seriously positing that. NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY!! We just want there to be some reasonable rules about what kind of guns you may purchase in the future. After all, if there were no rules, we'd all be allowed to carry missile launchers around if we wanted.
