Dude is that the voice of GARRETT???
spikestoyiu - 2010-09-21
Fuck. Put me in a coma and wake me up when this shit comes out.
Squeamish - 2010-09-21
I don't know if the actual gameplay will hold up to it, but... consider me hooked.
Mike Tyson?! - 2010-09-21
It's nice looking but looks like zero amounts of fun.
spikestoyiu - 2010-09-21 If you don't think commandeering a murder of bloodthirsty crows is fun, then there's seriously no hope for you.
WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2010-09-21 There's not nearly enough arbitrary stats and weapons specialization to sperg over, how am I supposed to have fun?!
Wander - 2010-09-21 Bioshock was about stats and weapon specialization a lot, for an FPS. Also how did you read that from his comment?
spikestoyiu - 2010-09-22 Or you could mow a few lawns or whatever and spend 0 on an Xbox.
Xenocide - 2010-09-21
In Bioshock 1 and 2, we took to a city under the sea.
In Bioshock 3, we took you to a city in the air.
NEW FOR 2012: Bioshock 4 dares you to explore a city...BUILT ON LAND.
Wander - 2010-09-21
Yah, that isn't real gameplay. I like the way this setting is looking, though.
a flaming monkey - 2010-09-21 It seemed a bit 'on rails', more like an interactive cutscene. Still, I like the way it looks.
Binro the Heretic - 2010-09-21 Yeah, it became clear to me pretty quickly that this was a movie made using the game engine.
IrishWhiskey - 2010-09-21 True, but much of Bioshock involved "interactive cutscenes", including the famous opening. While I'm guessing this exact scene won't be in the final product, I'd bet there's parts just like it.

chairsforcheap - 2010-09-22 I will hereby attempt to decode baleen:
The railing travel is straight out of Riven

baleen - 2010-09-21
I haven't played games in so long that I have no idea how a game like this is even played.
Wander - 2010-09-21 It's basically pong with nice graphics don't worry about it
baleen - 2010-09-21
This does look really on the border of a CD-ROM game... this is pretty much just a really beautiful scene transition, right? The whole game isn't like this.
IrishWhiskey - 2010-09-21 Well that is supposed to be game engine footage, not a cutscene or the like. Except for the draw distance, its not that different than current game standards. Most of the best looking things there come from aesthetics, not graphics.
I don't know if the "border of a CD-ROM game" is a joke or an adorable anachronism.
chairsforcheap - 2010-09-22 chairsforcheap
I will hereby attempt to decode baleen:
The railing travel is straight out of Riven
(oops posted it wrong place)
Mister Yuck - 2010-09-22 That's not gameplay or engine footage. It's a pretty movie. I don't care what they said, that is clearly not interactive nor would it work if it was interactive.

Lan Tianhe - 2010-09-21
punch recuperationist faces
poorwill - 2010-09-21
This looks pretty embarrassing.
chairsforcheap - 2010-09-21
oh my fucking god this is amazing.
yourmother - 2010-09-22
Not gameplay. Also fuck bioshock.
Blue - 2010-09-22
It's too bad this is a bioshock game. They have beautiful scenery but the gameplay is like playing DOOM. There aren't any people in the city, just enemies. They just pace back and forth, forever, waiting for a player character to come kill them. Sometimes I listen to the audio tapes left behind. People. People with hopes and dreams, people with doubts and fears, people with conflicts that were genuinely interesting. I want to play the video game those people were in. That video game sounds awesome!
chairsforcheap - 2010-09-22 tragically, your criticism is pretty spot on... But... the character interactions with enemies look vastly improved. The guy asking if you're an assassin? That gives a good amount of backstory... They may hit it out of the park with this one.
chairsforcheap - 2010-09-22 and come on..... that rebel yell sounds badass.
chairsforcheap - 2010-09-22 also, look how much personality the player character has... I REALLY like the idea of that...
GravidWithHate - 2010-09-22
The fact that this guy's named 'Booker' is either a very deliberate choice redolent with symbolism or something that is going to annoy the fuck out of me.
memedumpster - 2010-09-22
Five for opening up at the site of the 2012 Teaparty Express Rally. Stopped it at the really crappy falling bell animation.
Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2010-09-22
It's not System Shock 3
RockBolt - 2010-09-22
That escalated quickly
Innocent Bystander - 2010-09-22
Real pretty.
Caminante Nocturno - 2010-09-22
5 stars for making a game where you get to kill teabaggers.
Volbard - 2010-09-29
I don't understand how anyone could not like this.
Repomancer - 2011-01-18
Gameplay my ass. If it's nearly complete enough to make this video, explain the late-2012 release date? This is prerendered bogosity.
Nominal - 2023-03-15
This game ended up being the worst Bioshock. I think it was someone in the News forum who perfectly spelled it out:
"What we were promised was a satirical takedown of American exceptionalism and nationalism, with the same critical lens used on objectivism in the first game.
What we got was someone's Doctor Who fanfic."
The gameplay was boring too. Call of Duty where you stuck with a boring regular rifle the whole game and plasmids were too weak to bother with.
