There is a robin outside my window right now. He's been there for weeks, feeding on the berries. However, he keeps seeing his reflection in the glass. So upsetting is this that he flies into the window, slashing and flapping at the spectral other there in the glass. His opponent never wavers, never fails to meet him in less than brotherly embrace. The war's been raging now for over a month, and shows no signs of slowing. Berries will probably last until spring. I am tempted to shoot the bird but I feel the constant reminder of the futility of fighting with oneself to be worth the bother.
So what was I saying. Oh yes, the birds. They're a little freaked out about those mirrors. To many enemies in a hall of mirrors.
I think rodents see something we don't.
