The entire Trump foreign policy is based on the proposition that people take him as seriously as he takes himself.

I see stuff like this as well as the Tea Party-supported politicians ranting and raving like they're on PCP, and yet Howard Dean's 'scream' a few years ago labeled him as 'too angry' to be President.
Glad to see the right wing is as fickle as they are clueless.

This guy has China all figured out.

You do get he's just trying to increase his ratings?
No shit, and yes he really is toying around with a run for president. Don't see why that warrants a 1-star of the video.
he's not toying with a run, he just wants publicity. You're helping him get it.
He probably saw how sarah palin makes hundreds of thousands just to make bullshit speeches and thought he could make even more if he combines fiscal speeches with republican bullshit.
I could not give a rat's ass whether Trump has the ratings and publicity he wants or not. I don't hate or scorn him in any way, I simply DON'T CARE about him in the slightest, and more than I care about Paris Hilton or who wins the next Real World.
I care about the fact that a plurality of Republicans are so simple-mindedly hateful they could actually take this man and what he's saying seriously. And I care that these people have a significant influence on our actual media and public policies and our lives. And I'd rather try and get people to recognize these people are fundamentally irrational, than worry whether Trump has another penny in his pocket.
Trump probably isn't going to run. He has zero chance of winning, it will be expensive, embarrassing, time-consuming, exhausting, and has potential to cause him a lot of harm.
But some Serious people think he could possibly run for one reason; HE'S FUCKING CRAZY. Who the hell knows how his addled mind works?
SolRo just ruined Trumps plan by one starring it on POE.

Yeah, so, Bush tried that by putting a 20% tariff on Chinese steel and the WTO sued us and made Bush back down. Perhaps what he meant to say was "I would like to undo sixty years of post-war trade agreements and re-write them so they only benefit America."

Aaaaand the GOP just did a spit take.
Yes, all of them.

first year economics courses teach the fundamentals of protectionist trade policy. it goes like this: a heavy tarrif on imports raises our net exports (exports minus imports). As we begin selling more stuff relative to our reduced imports, demand for our currency to buy our stuff with, goes up. Increased demand for our currency raises our exchange rate, subsequently increasing costs of our own goods for other nations. Thus, we export less, which reduces income and employment. Tariffs are bad for both parties.
Plus, Walmart is probably such a heavy importer of cheap Chinese goods anyways that a 25% tax on Chinese imports would go straight into cost increases at Walmart, hurting every American Walmart shopper. it's just dumb.
I figured he was dumb, but thanks for confirming it.

Wait, he's a "republican business man" calling for government intervention into a market and more taxes?
|phalsebob - 2011-05-01 |
Was anyone else expecting Trump to drop a ching chong style accent there. He's that kind of guy.
