Loved the critters; very imaginative. This isn't quite how I remember the original story, though. Doesn't he shoot the machine or something?

Yeah he shoots it and the other guy ends up dying.

Oops, sorry. Replied before I watched the vid.
In the original story, a man named Crawford invites the protagonist to his home, promising him that he will blow his mind with science. Once there, he explains to the protagonist that his machine (which is small enough to rest on a tabletop in the story) creates certain brain waves that allows our senses to detect a vast array of life-forms that lurk just beyond our realm of consciousness. Crawford turns the machine on, then makes makes good on his promise that minds will be blown when extra-dimensional critters start to appear. Crawford then tells the protagonist that he will be killed soon by some horrible monster/thingy. Turns out the creature goes for Crawford first. The protagonist then shoots the machine and is mistakenly arrested for the murder of the now-dead Crawford.
Its a good read, Im not doing it any justice.
